Udo, croisé noir Udo : Male cross, about 10 months old, small/medium-sized

This pretty little dog is really a sweet baby without a trace of aggression. Udo thinks about just one thing: cuddles and nestling in your arms. Well that’s not quite true, because between cuddles he also likes to play and wouldn’t turn down a nice walk. Very sociable with other dogs, Udo is not at all dominant and he gets on with everyone. This fine little dog is very good company. He has an easy-going temperament and will make his future family very happy.

Taxi, Cairn Terrier Taxi : Male Cairn Terrier type, born 5.5.2003, small

This little terrier with the sweet muzzle is a good, very affectionate dog who finds himself in the puppy kennel because of his small size. The good doggy tolerates stoically the pranks of his little kennelmates, who are real clowns, it has to be said. Quite calm despite his youth, Taxi is a cuddly little dog who loves attention. As he’s so small, one can take Taxi just about everywhere, possibly in a basket, which makes him a highly practical doggy! Taxi could live in an apartment, provided he was walked regularly, and he awaits his new family impatiently.

Volte, Montagne des Pyrénées Volte : Male Great Pyrenees, 7 months old, very large

And here is Volte, the white bear, or rather the refuge’s white teddy bear. Yes, teddy bear, for with his great paws and his good head, Volte tends to attract hugs rather than being forbidding. Volte is a young dog who’s full of life and who loves to play with other dogs or to go for walks – it’s quite normal at his age. He’s also very good at cuddles and other shows of affection, and greatly appreciates human company or the company of male or female dogs. The owners of this fine doggy were tenants in a house that was sold, and they found themselves in an apartment, which didn’t suit Volte at all. Cheerful and full of the joy of living, Volte would be happy to be adopted by a family who like an outdoor life and who have a fenced garden where he can play the fool

Nestor : male Labrador, 6 years old, large

This magnificent Labrador with his imposing bearing is also a fine doggy with an easy character. Calm and well balanced, Nestor likes family life, but has an unfortunate tendency to go walkabout, and thus needs a fenced garden. His many wanderings have landed him in the refuge. Sociable and playful with other dogs, male or female, Nestor is a placid and affectionate dog. He waits impatiently to embark on new adventures in the happy family who adopts him.

Blanche-Neige, Bichon Blanche-Neige : Female Bichon cross, 5 months old, small

This sweet little ball of immaculate fur with azure eyes is really as pretty as a princess. Still very intimidated by her arrival at the refuge, Blanche-Neige is reserved at the moment, but she shouldn’t take long to forget her fears. Sent to the refuge because she ate a missal during her owner’s absence (the owner was redy to have her put down for this), Blanche-Neige is still a baby who, like all puppies, needs to learn to be alone little by little. Sociable with other dogs, Blanche-Neige will be very relieved to find a good family who will take the time to train her and to give her the affection she needs.

Leelo, Female Terrier cross, about 3 years old, small

Very small and very quickly adopted!

Vodka, Female Bull Terrier LOF, born in May 2004, small

This one too, adopted one hour after arriving at the refuge.

Blanche, Female ratter, about 1 year old, small

And one last one!

Sissi, Ratière Sissi : Female Ratter, about 18 months old, small

Pretty little Sissi, so sweet and delicate, knows how to charm. Small and light, Sissi loves to be carried in your arms and she’ll be able to go with her family everywhere, especially as she’s also calm and quiet. Very affectionate without being clingy, this little dog is really good company and gets on very well with adults and chidren. Sissi is very well behaved in the car, where she watches the landscape go by while sitting quietly in her seat. Cherry on the cake: Sissi is well behaved and sociable with other dogs, male or female. The little charmer is easy to live with and well balanced, and she will give great satisfaction to the happy family who adopt her.

Gini, Beauceron Gini : Female Beauceron, about 4 years old, large

No one can remain unaware of Gini’s beauty and bearing. This magnificent dog is funny and irresistible when she gets a mischievous look to play with a ball, but one can only silently admire her trotting along with her bouncy step, her proud air and her noble gait. Gini is an affectionate and good dog, but she has a strong character that would suit a master with a certain authority. She gets on well with other dogs so long as they don’t try to dominate her. She’s the great friend of Fidji, presented below, for whom she plays the big sister. Gini appreciates the volunteers’ company but she has a rather independent character and would be happy to have access to an enclosed garden, for she tends to go walkabout. This intelligent dog with a strong and attractive personality will be able to form a very strong bond with the family who takes the time to win her affection.

Ugolin, Fauve de Bretagne Rouky : Male Fauve de Bretagne, about 1 year old, small/medium-sized

This young dog is still intimidated by his arrival at the refuge and he seems very intrigued by my camera! The good little doggy will certainly lose his reserve in a few days, but for the moment he's really wondering what he's doing here. Rouky already appears very sociable with other dogs and completely lacking in aggression. Details on Rouky will be posted very soon, the moment he decides to forget to be shy.

Two Beagles : Males, 5 months old, medium-sized

Fifi : Female Newfoundland, 3 months old, will be medium-sized

Lively and always on the go, Fifi will need a garden

Chiot Caniche/ratier : Female 2.5 month old, small

Maya : Female Labrador/Spaniel cross, 3 months old, will be medium-sized

Finette, ratier Finette : Female Ratter, small

Our sweet little Finette found a family very quickly.

Usky, Lhassa Apso Usky : Male Lhassa Apso/Poodle cross, born in August 2003, very small

This good pocket doggy is really a little comic: with his tousled head and his pert little look he’ll have many fans. Very playful, Usky in fact thinks only about having fun and he was not unhappy to arrive at the refuge to find so many playmates! Very affectionate and lively, Usty was living with a handicapped lady who soon encountered big problems with walking our little demon on the lead. Usky’s very small size (about 5 kg) mean that he’s easy to transport. Highly sociable, Usky loves company, whether it’s other dogs, children or adults. He’s waiting impatiently to find a family who will appreciate his gaiety and good humour.

Huson, Boxer Hudson : Male Boxer, born 2.6.2003, large

It’s a bit of an understatement to say that Hudson is a great success: he’d hardly arrived at the refuge when he’d become everyone’s darling. I think it took me about 2 minutes in his kennel to fall under his charm. Cuddly without being clingy, gentle and affectionate, very sociable with other dogs, obedient and full of good will, Hudson is a dog who just doesn’t seem to have defects. He’s very gentle and tolerant with children and has a happy character, and he’s also calm and quiet. Then why did this lovely dog find himself at the refuge? Only because of the unfortunate hazards of life. Hudson’s owners separated and he stayed with his master, who had professional obligations that forced him to spend weeks far from home … Let’s hope that this lovable (and also very beautiful) dog quickly finds the good family that he so deserves.

Pépère : Male Fauve of Bretagne, about 11 years old

Pépère arrived at the refuge in a pitiful state (no doubt injured by a car) and convalesced in the puppy kennel. After several weeks of care, Pépère recovered very well and is able to walk about happily. Very sociable, Pépère gets on brilliantly with all dogs, big or small, male or female. Take a look at the puppy adoption page to see what I mean. When Pépère is not sprawled on top of his little friends, it’s the puppies who pile onto this improvised teddy bear! You’ve got it, Pépère is a very sweet dog, extraordinarily tolerant and without a trace of aggression. Pépère doesn’t seem perturbed in the least by his adventures and he comes quivering as soon as you call him for hugs. He’s also the friend of children, whom he treats with the same sweet gentleness as the puppies. The simple fact of having a new blanket is sheer bliss for him. Unfortunately, Pépère is beginning to show his age, and the spartan conditions of the refuge aren’t easy for him. In the cold his ears are sensitive to the damp in the kennels (which aren’t heated), and they need regular cleaning to avoid otitis. We’d all like to spare him another winter at the refuge and to find him a family who would ensure that his senior years are spent in comfort.
